Computer Upgrades

Why not upgrade?

One thing is certain about computers; the blazingly fast computer purchased just 18 months ago now seems very slow. The need to upgrade quickly becomes obvious. Done properly, a computer upgrade is the cost effective way of extending a computer's longevity. FERAD Electronics has over 15 years of experience and expertise in many facets of computer technology. We will expertly assess and advise you about the best upgrade options available to you.

RAM

One of the most effective ways to upgrade an older system is to add RAM (Memory) to it. Increasing the amount RAM in your computer translates into better PC multi-tasking performance. When your system has plenty of available RAM, it won't have to access the "swap file" on the Hard disk(s) as much. RAM is much faster than Hard disks; smoother performance and increased productivity is immediately realized after a computer memory upgrade.

Web browsers load faster after a memory upgrade - regardless of Internet connection speed. In addition to faster web page rendering, a memory upgrade can also make flash or java content open faster.

Computers connected to a network can observe a boost in network capabilities after a RAM upgrade. This extends to networks sharing a printer. People that print a lot of items, especially items with graphics, can look to a memory upgrade to make typical printing tasks faster.

Computers with higher memory installed have better 3D rendering capabilities than those with a minimal amount of RAM. Game images become cleaner and brighter with a memory upgrade due to the decreased need for "on-the-fly" image compression. Games run more smoothly and exhibit faster response times - with fewer "jerky" movements.

CPU

CPUs (Central Processing Unit) are not as commonly upgraded as most other PC components. However, a CPU upgrade, especially when combined with a RAM upgrade, is a very effective method of improving a computer's performance level. Generally speaking, PC hardware architecture changes dramatically every 18 months and compatible CPU upgrades become difficult to find. If you bought an entry-level or mid-grade desktop computer 12 to 18 months ago, it is very likely that it can be greatly improved with a CPU upgrade. This will extend the life and usability of your present PC without you incurring the greater costs of purchasing a whole new computer system.

Hard Disk

Hard drive sizes and speeds have increased dramatically in recent years. A new, larger hard drive can add years of life to many two or three year old computers. To get the most out of a new hard drive you need to replace your old hard drive and reinstall everything onto the new hard drive. This is typically a long, time-consuming task. Fortunately, FERAD Electronics can do most nearly all the work for you by using our proven, data migration techniques.
